The map is not just decoration on the website. It is one of the best tools for finding base spots, planning roads, avoiding accidental build overlap, and understanding what the world looks like beyond spawn.
1 What the map is good for
Find water, mountain edges, villages, plains, forests, roads, and empty terrain before you walk there.
Plan paths between spawn, markets, farms, ports, and public builds without slicing through claims.
Use terrain shapes to pick promising directions for the structure module in AoWWorldGen, villages, ore trips, and biome hunts.
Pair the map with /deaths and /backtrack when you need to reach a grave or marker.
See how settlements grow over time and where public roads or markets might make sense.
Bedrock has no F3 screen, so the map is a practical coordinate and orientation tool.
2 Scouting checklist
| Look for | Why it matters | Good next step |
|---|---|---|
| Open land near water | Easy farming, boating, docks, and roads. | Travel there, set a home, and claim a starter area. |
| Existing roads or builds | You can connect to community infrastructure without blocking it. | Ask before expanding directly beside somebody. |
| Fresh terrain edges | New chunks can receive the flora module in AoWWorldGen, the ore-vein module in AoWWorldGen, and the structure module in AoWWorldGen. | Bring food, blocks, tools, and a bed. |
| Villages and outposts | Towns & Towers expands these structures, making them useful route anchors. | Respect nearby claims and avoid griefing. |
| Mountains, caves, ravines | Good for mining, scenic bases, and ore expeditions. | Watch for Elite mobs once you are far from spawn. |
3 Map etiquette
- Do not assume every visible build is public.
- Ask before connecting a road directly into somebody's base.
- Do not build on top of another player's expansion route without talking to them.
- If a marker or public build looks broken, report it with coordinates.
4 If the map is blank
| Symptom | Likely cause | Try this |
|---|---|---|
| Blank dark area | Tiles are loading slowly or the browser cached an old view. | Refresh the tab and wait a few seconds. |
| Map blocked in an iframe | Browser privacy settings or a temporary network issue. | Open map.aowmc.com directly. |
| Player marker missing | The server may hide some markers or the player is offline. | Use in-game coordinates or ask the player directly. |
| Wrong area shown | You are zoomed out or panned away from spawn. | Use zoom controls, search visually, or reload the map. |
